Re: Destria Planet of Mystery
"I wonder... If they said they found no sentient life, they would have to have lived around the beginning of the Galaxy. The creatures who made these ruins would have been very intelligent, intelligent enough to settle on another planet. Meaning, the species could, theoretically, still be alive. But why are they gone here?"

Re: Destria Planet of Mystery
"Ah yes, a Forerunner species. It's a long standing theory in our history that all sentient life in our galaxy was propagated by a single species.. a Forerunner so to say. Until now, we've never found proof for this theory. This may prove our theory for this galaxy, but we'll never know if our Origin Galaxy was populated the same way." Dr. Cole had an obvious tone of regret in his voice. "This is very interesting, I will have to return there later and take some pictures for my records."
Re: Destria Planet of Mystery
When they reach the split Willow and Sai went left, Geos and Dr. Cole went right.
Sai and Willow come across a story. Willow reads it as best she can. It reads 'Ten years ago since we have achieved interstellar flight. We have have found no other sentient being we are alone. I have recently proposed to our government we provide the building blocks and the right dna to species on Class-M planets. If it passes we will be able to complete the project after ten years.'. Willow send a message to Geos and Dr. Cole. "This is interesting. Destria might be the homeworld of the civilization we suspect left these ruins. What do you think of this text?"
Meanwhile..
Geos get the message. He prints a paper of the text and gives it to Dr. Cole to keep. "Well we have found something different from what we expected. I'll let you read it and see what you think of it before we go any further."

"Huh, this entire exercise was futile. I would have picked Geos." He said with amusement.
Re: Destria Planet of Mystery
"Alright. Um... I'm not quite sure who to pick... Uh, Willow, I guess."

"Heads.. no, tails! I'll take tails." Dr. Cole replied enthusiastically.
Re: Destria Planet of Mystery
"Okay we are to give a the first pick to a coin flip. Dr. Cole heads or tails?"
OOC: I'm going to leave this up to random.

"Yeah. We can cover more ground if we split up. Besides, we can meet up again later and discuss what we found."

"I don't need this, but I'll keep it just in case. I have neural implants that allow me to do a number of things, such as not getting lost. I'm OK with splitting up, as long as everyone is OK with it."
Re: Destria Planet of Mystery
"You make a strong point Dr. Cole." Then Willow signals Geos. Geos pulls out 4 visors and hands them out. He put on his. "These visors will help us keep track where we are going. If necessary print the map from it and power it off. I think we should split into two teams. Me and Willow let you chose one of us two to join you. But say if you want to stay as one team. We will be fine with that."

Re: Destria Planet of Mystery
Dr. Cole was so busy scribbling things down into his notebook he didn't notice Willow talking to him. He looked up and saw everyone staring at him and occasionally glancing at a riddle on some stone.
"To be honest, I think it's more of a warning than a riddle. It's not too difficult to understand. Now if it was something like 'It is greater than God and more evil than the devil. The poor have it, the rich need it and if you eat it you’ll die. What is it?' That would be a messed up riddle for those who did not know the answer. Just with the answer to my riddle, it's not what you expect it to be. You would think the answer was 'money', but the answer is in fact 'nothing'. I think the answer to this riddle could be far more sinister than we think, there could easily be random time vortex's floating around the place, there could be traps left and right, it could almost be anything. The only way to find out is to go inside and risk our lives, discovery cannot be made without some level of risk. Also, to understand a riddle you must have an expert grasp on the language and have similar contexts and points of reference as the creator of the riddle. Someone who speaks Imperial as a native language will not understand riddles written in Klingon.. but that's all getting into Galactic Social Theory, and we're here for archeology."

Re: Destria Planet of Mystery
"I agree with you Sai. I also think it also a maze. What do you think Dr. Cole?" Willow looks at Dr. Cole.

"My best guess is that it means that there are traps or dangers, and that if we are not careful and stumble upon theme we become a part of the ruins' history."

"I'm fine with what you want to do. But let's see what Sai wants to do." Geos then turned to Sai. "So do you want to do in the exploration of the ruins?"

Re: Destria Planet of Mystery
"I'd love to start from the inside out, like a present. I'd also rather not miss anything on the way in that might say, in some weird alien language, that we'll meet certain doom if we enter. Reading the warnings scribbled on the doors of ancient ruins have gotten many explorers killed. I'm sure you'd all rather not get crushed by a giant rolling ball of metal or a pit full of poisonous reptiles." Doctor Cole said, with a slightly more serious tone.
Re: Destria Planet of Mystery
The Fedonian explorers lead everyone to the ruins. They show everyone the way to get in and out of the ruins. "Thanks for showing us you can go back to exploring anywhere you want. Let's go in everyone." Everyone follows Geos in. "Do you guys want to go in deeper or explore the surface layer first?"

OOC: For future reference, it's Sai not Sia.

"We're leaving when everyone is ready to go Doctor Daran. Me and Willow are ready." The Fedonian explorers give a nod that they are ready. "So Daran and Sia are you two ready?"

Re: Destria Planet of Mystery
"Thing about paper and pencil.. it doesn't run out of batteries like data pads do, also this paper is moisture and fire resistant so it's a bit harder to destroy. If I ever die on a dig my notes can be easily recovered even centuries later! No need to worry about me, I've been in some fairly dangerous situations on trips like this. One time I was stuck in a cave on Andoria for a week after a tunnel collapse. Thankfully I decided to tell my family I had gone or no one would have known to come and rescue me! Sometimes being an archeologist can be dangerous but the rewards are well worth it wouldn't you say?" Daran said excitedly. "I feel like a little kid going to thee toy store. I don't have an environmental suit handy so I'll have to borrow one from you guys, when will we be leaving?"
